General Vacancies

+ Electrical Apprentice

An electrical apprentice at NECA Education and Careers will potentially:

Install cables/wires for;

  • Domestic (residential)
  • Commercial (business) and
  • Industrial and
  • Voice & Data.

Domestic Installation may consist of the following;

  • Power Circuits
  • Lighting Circuits
  • Air Conditioning Units
  • Hot Water Units
  • Fire & Smoke Alarm Circuits
  • Switchboards & Control Boards

Industrial Installation may consist of the following;

  • Power Circuits
  • Lighting Circuits
  • Large Motor Circuits
  • Switchboards
  • Air Conditioning Units
  • Motor Control Circuits
  • Lifts & Escalators

Voice and Data Installations may consist of the following;

  • Networks eg. LAN
  • Fibre-optic Cabling
  • Cat. 5 Cabling
  • Computer Cabling

Commercial installation may consist of all of the above.

You might be lucky enough to be exposed to all of the above on one job site but quite often when you are starting out you will be exposed to the same type of tasks until you are competent enough to progress to tasks that require more attention, precision and expertise.

+ Business Administration Trainee

A Business Administration Trainee with NECA Education and Careers will potentially:

  • Answer and redirect telephones
  • Manage and manipulate data in a database system
  • Photocopy, file and scan documents
  • Archive
  • Distribute mail
  • Organise events
  • Email correspondence
  • Proof read documents
  • Manage calendars
  • Coordinate meetings including invitations, set up and clean up
  • Document preparation
  • Invoicing
  • Mail outs 

Quite often you may start out being exposed to the more repetitive simple tasks to get you familiarised with the every day going ons of the business. Once you show competency and initiative to be able to take of further tasks the sky is the limit.

+ Information Technology Trainee

An IT Trainee with NECA Education and Careers will potentially:

  • 1st Level Support to users
  • Receive calls and emails from users with issues
  • Log Jobs
  • Solve those queries which you can and serve as liaison between users and other members of the IT team for those problems which you cannot solve.
  • Update support documentation

Systems Tasks

  • Backup Tapes
  • System Performance Monitoring
  • Scheduled Tasks
  • Check that overnight jobs ran
  • Yearly / Monthly / Weekly changes that have to be made to job

Users

  • Creation of users in all systems
  • Removing / suspending terminated employees
  • Provide Computer Orientation to new staff

  • Clear old reports
  • Clear spool
  • Month End Rollover
  • Stock Take
  • Manage and facilitate the repair and installation of computers, peripheral devices and network infrastructure.
  • Assist the Systems Administrator where required
  • Assist the IT National Support staff where required
  • Assist the IT Manager where required 
  • Maintain hardware and software register
  • Any other duties as reasonably assigned by the IT Manager

Quite often a trainee is assigned simple tasks to identify their competency level and to introduce process to the individual. Once process is learnt and a certain level of competency is achieved more complex tasks will be given to the trainee to tackle.
