John Taufer – General Manager – Careers (VIC) and OHS
John has had extensive experience in the electrical industry working as an A grade electrician, then as a field officer for another group training company before joining NECA Education & Careers in 2006.
By creating a safe environment for his team, John is able to empower them to take a lead within the business and drive business efficiency. In creating this environment he can enable staff to see their role within the business as bigger than the tasks they complete and see the role they play in creating a positive social impact.
As the General Manager of Careers (Victoria) and OHS his role includes the management of all Industry Careers Consultants, Strategic Direction of the Group Training Services provided by NECA Education & Careers and ensuring the safety of NECA Education & Careers employees, apprentices and trainees across both Victoria and Tasmania.
Since John moved into the role of General Manager of Careers (Victoria) and OHS, NECA Education & Careers has seen our apprentice, trainee and recruitment departments come together as a holistic team that supports and mentors the apprentice or trainee from application through to completion. This approach has seen apprentices and trainees be provided with consistent levels of support, mentoring and feedback through their journey. This approach has also seen the completion rate for apprentices and trainees improve to 80% (against an industry average of 50.9%) and lost time due to injury down by 51%.
