With summer here we can expect to have some hot days ahead of us. It is important to maintain hydrated through these hot days with plenty of water as on hot days, dehydration and exhaustion are a potential cause of injury or harm. Becoming only mildly dehydrated can seriously impact your body’s ability to function and have serious negative impact on things like your concentration, reaction time and judgment. Always keep well hydrated and have a drink bottle with you on days of high temperatures.

SAFE AT WORK Australia recommends breaks in heat, each hour, as follows:

Temp:       Duration of recommended paid break each hour:

30°-32° – 10 min
32°-34° – 20 min
34°-36° – 30 min
36°+      – Cease work
