Darin Jewell – Industry Careers Consultant

Darin supports apprentices in the classroom and on site

Darin joined NECA Education & Careers in 2016 through our ‘Pipeline’ recruitment process. This process sees A Grade Electricians mentored into becoming trade school teachers through a transitional process. This ensures all our teaching staff are passionate, dedicated and understand current industry practices

Darin commenced working as a sessional teacher after completing his Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE41110) and time in the classroom under guidance of our Training Operations Leader and a Senior Teacher. He has since taken up a full time dual role working as a Trade Teacher and an Industry Careers Consultant as part of the Group Training department.

After completing his apprenticeship in South Australia, Darin has worked as an A Grade in Commercial, Large Scale Industrial and Mining across Australia. Most recently as a Fly In-Fly Out Electrician in Port Headland.

As well as working as a teacher and industry careers consultant Darin is also part of our Let’s Connect mentor program which is in place to support apprentices through what can be turbulent years during an apprenticeship. He is passionate about arming apprentices with the skills and knowledge required to face life’s challenges and educating them on the importance of respectful relationships both on the worksite and in their personal lives.

Darin became a teacher and an Industry Careers Consultant because of his love for supporting and mentoring future electricians and his passion for being part of shaping the future of the industry.

“I love the team environment here, we get to spend time helping and mentoring the next generation of electricians.” Darin Jewell
