Nick Feretis – Industry Careers Consultant

Nick enjoys being there for apprentices and trainees throughout the journey

Nick came on board with NECA Education & Careers in 2018, continuing more than 11 years of work in vocational education. Nine of those years were with an apprenticeship centre, and he also spent 18 months in learning and development for an employer. Combining his experience in apprenticeship services and learning and development Nick has found it a natural transition to becoming an Industry Careers Consultant.

While he might have only recently joined the team, Nick was a familiar face around the office, making regular visits as he worked alongside NECA Education & Careers as part of his apprenticeship centre role. As an Industry Careers Consultant, Nick appreciates having ongoing contact with the apprentices and trainees, as opposed to only meeting them at the beginning of their apprenticeship in his previous role.

Nick feels lucky to have seen the excitement of so many apprentices starting their careers, but he enjoys now also having a hands-on influence on apprentices as they work towards becoming an A Grade electrician, and trainees as they complete their Certificate III or Certificate IV.

When he first started with NECA Education & Careers, Nick described the prospect of working across both apprenticeships and traineeships as a challenge, but one he was looking forward to.

Outside of work, Nick is passionate about soccer and cycling, avidly watching games and races at all hours of the night and going for long Sunday rides.

Nick’s why is being there for apprentices and trainees not just at the beginning, but experiencing the journey with them up to the completion of their qualification and going into their career. “Being part of that is awesome.”

“The appealing thing for me is actually being able to make a difference to an apprentice or trainee, watching them through the journey.”Nick Feretis
