The awards are staged by Skills Tasmania, a division of the State Growth Department, which develops strategies and provides support, advice, opportunities and funding to deliver quality training to the needs of Tasmania and its industries.
After being a Dental Assistant for over a decade, Katherine felt as though she needed to challenge herself. “I’ve always wanted to expand my career in the dental industry within the area of technology.”
“NECA Education & Careers has helped me achieve my goal of completing a Diploma of Dental Technology and becoming a Dental Technician with the help of a host employer, Oral Health Services Tasmania. I couldn’t have done it without their support and encouragement. Thank you!”
On completion of her Diploma Katherine was offered a position at Oral Health as a technician and now mentors trainees within her department.
As Federal Group Trainee of the Year, Katherine receives a $3000 cash prize, plus a $250 travel voucher from Andrew Jones Travel and a specially designed trophy, and will represent Tasmania in the Australian Training Awards to be held in Hobart in November.
When asked about starting a traineeship Katherine commented “If you have something in mind that you’ve always wanted to do and the opportunity comes around, grasp it with both hands. The feeling of achievement begins when you’re outside your comfort zone and it’s a great feeling!”
Congratulations Katherine from all at NECA Education & Careers.
