On Monday 15th April, NECA Education & Careers rolled out a new online learning management system (LMS) for all students. Our new LMS is called Sparky, and replaced iConnect as the digital learning environment.

Sparky was designed to look and feel very similar to the previous iConnect LMS, to make the transition as smooth as possible for students.

The LMS platform provider that we’re using for Sparky is Moodle. Moodle is a market leader, used by many education institutions. The intent of the transition to Sparky is that it will give us flexibility to deliver future product enhancements easily and will ensure we remain relevant for our students.

All existing and completed units from iConnect were carried over into Sparky, as was learning progress visible to students and teachers.

Our onsite support teams at both Carlton North and Dandenong campuses were on hand to resolve any technical issues that arose during the launch, but the new system was received positively.
