Issue 7 – August 2022
Open Day returns to NECA Education & Careers

The event was highly anticipated by prospective apprentices… and by our staff!
The rain held off as visitors were welcomed onto campus by donuts, a sausage sizzle and the Middy’s V8 Supercar. Once inside, prospective apprentices were quick to get hands on with practical activities in the workshop and demonstrations in our specialised classrooms.
Staff and current apprentices gave engaging and informative presentations on the apprenticeship experience to packed sessions, those who were ready to apply for apprentice jobs completed the NECA Pre-Selection Assessment, and VR allowed guests to try job site simulations.
We also opened expressions of interest for our Dandenong campus, which will open in 2023. Sign up here to be updated on enrolment availability for the electrical pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship at Dandenong.

Struggling to find apprentices in this tight labour market?

Got a big project coming up?
With record low unemployment and a candidate-driven market, sourcing and recruiting talent has never been harder, or more time consuming.
When employing an apprentice directly, you need to take the time to advertise, vet and interview candidates, and when you find the right one, take on all the employer responsibilities of ensuring they are paid under the correct Award or EBA conditions, pay their super, engage an Apprenticeship Centre to register the apprenticeship arrangement, organise a trade school, look after profiling and trade school progression – not to mention any performance management issues.
A time-saving alternative is to use NECA Education & Careers – where we are the legal employer and “host” an apprentice to your business for a particular term. We look after payroll, superannuation payments, industry funds and the Workcover premium, so you can keep doing what you best, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Electrical apprentices can be hosted to cover a short-term project (3-month minimum), up to the full term of the apprenticeship – and we often have apprentices of all year levels and varied past work experience available – so it can be the perfect cost-effective labour solution for project work or a growing business.
To find out more about becoming a Host Employer for your next electrical apprentice and get some time back in your day, contact NECA Education & Careers.
Time to reinvent your electrical career?

If you’re thinking of getting off the tools and improving your work-life balance, maybe it’s time to consider trade teaching.
NECA Education & Careers has a pipeline teacher program to help tradies become successful electrical trade teachers.
- Complete the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification
- Receive effective support from other teachers
- Be paid
- Shadow other teachers
- Develop the required knowledge, skills, and confidence to successfully teach classes.
Our pipeline teachers say it was the best career move they ever made. You get to keep learning, and stay connected to the industry, while having the satisfaction of guiding the development of skills and know-how in younger generations.
Don’t take our word for it, watch Aaron’s video for a first-hand account.
If you would like to join the teaching team at NECA Education & Careers, please contact Training Operations Manager Paul Sesta.
