How we support you and the electrical industry

We’re deeply connected to the electrical and communications sector.

Our network of industry partners keeps us across the latest advancements, standards and regulatory changes – insights we share directly with you.

Many of our apprentices go on to become electrical contractors and business owners, often returning to host new apprentices through NECA Education & Careers. It’s a powerful example of how we support the full lifecycle of an electrical career.

The benefits of hosting a NECA Apprentice

The main reason contractors should outsource apprentice management is that it will save them a huge amount of time. By eliminating the paperwork and simply leasing an apprentice from NECA Education & Careers, you’ll be able to focus on the things that really matter. Whether that’s managing your other employees or getting projects completed quicker, time equals money, and in the electrical sector there’s always a struggle to find enough minutes in the day.

As well as saving time by eliminating many of the processes needed to take on an apprentice, our Apprentice Management Program lets contractors avoid the red tape that comes with an apprentice. Streamlining the process to the bare essentials lets you enjoy all of the benefits of an apprentice – such as extra productivity, reduced labour costs and a chance to give back to the industry – without the headache of wading through unfamiliar processes.

We handle the administrative burden – from paperwork to payroll – consolidating everything into a single transaction so you can focus on what matters most.

By streamlining the employment process, you’ll gain valuable benefits, including:

    • Increased productivity
    • Manageable labor costs
    • Future-proofed business through strategic staff development

Every NECA Apprentice undergoes comprehensive induction training with special emphasis on safety protocols and workplace expectations.

Plus, we assign a dedicated Industry Careers Consultant to support both you and your apprentice throughout the placement, providing ongoing guidance and regular workplace visits.

Hosting an electrical apprentice vs. direct employment

Hosting a NECA apprentice - our support services overview

Once you’ve decided to host an electrical apprentice from NECA Education & Careers, the journey is short and simple. All you need to do is tell us exactly what type of skill set you’re after, and our team will recruit, interview and induct an appropriate candidate, and with your approval, assign them to your business. The only paperwork you’ll need to worry about is a weekly invoice which covers the entire process, including apprentice wages.

In addition, during the apprenticeship you and the apprentice will receive ongoing support in the form of advice, workplace visits and mentoring to ensure that every party is getting the very best out of the process.

We’ve worked with a huge variety of electrical contractors; from small one-man-band operations right the way up to large multi-site businesses. No matter your needs, we’ll find the perfect apprentice, and make sure that the experience is rewarding, positive and productive for everyone.

You support is directly from your assigned Industry Careers Consultant, who provides you with ongoing guidance, and monitors the components of your apprentice’s on-the-job and off-the-job training through regular site visits covering:

    OH&S awareness and compliance
Management of personal issues and discipline where necessary
    Off-the-job (trade school) work
    Toolkit reviews
